Have you ever seen something in your news feed or social media feed that just
triggered you into a negative, emotional spiral? Why are we drawn to negativity?
On both a personal level as well as across our society as a whole, there is a
psychological term known as Negativity Bias. While it’s part of our biological
survival mechanism, this negativity bias contributes to our culture’s large numbers
of depression, anxiety, political discord, economic upheaval, etc. Today, Dallas
explores this cycle of negativity bias in his own life, and he examines how
becoming aware of not only the emotions he’s feeling but also the story that he’s
telling himself is essential to breaking that cycle.
